misguided

I found a worm on a pile of trash
Ah, it will bloom into a butterfly i thought;
And placed it neatly on a branch with many leaves;
it hopped off and turned into a buzzing fly.

I saw a white nest-ling on the ground
Ah, poor baby needs to get home i thought;
Gently placing him back in the nest nearby;
Found traces of blood in the crow’s nest next day.

A slippery fish hopped onto my lap
Oh no, get it to water i thought;
dropped it in a bucket of fresh water;
Died because it was away from sea.

They are not what they seem;
I’m dumber than i think;
but cleaner than the fly,
happier than the bird,
and amphibious, swift and keen.
